ENGAGING CHRISTMAS PROGRAMMES FOR KIDS

Seasonal Activities for Christmas Festivities is a comprehensive resource designed for children’s leaders seeking lively and thought-provoking session material for 7-11 year olds in the run-up to Christmas. With three years’ worth of exciting programme ideas, this resource helps children discover the true meaning of Christmas through interactive sessions. Each programme includes five sessions that fit readily into the autumn half-term leading up to Christmas, and features an optional short presentation for a Christmas service or related event.

THOUGHT-PROVOKING THEMES AND ACTIVITIES

This resource offers three stand-alone but inter-related themes, each explored through icebreakers, discussions, games, crafts, dramatised Bible stories, prayers, and take-home activities. The themes include ‘Christmas Unwrapped’, which explores the roles of five nativity characters; ‘Christmas Unpacked’, which links five key Bible stories from Creation to Easter; and ‘The Gift of Christmas’, which examines how five nativity characters symbolise the people Jesus came to befriend. These engaging activities help children reflect on the significance of Christmas and its relevance to their lives.

EASY-TO-USE SESSIONS FOR CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Each of the five sessions within a programme follows a consistent pattern, making it easy for children’s leaders to plan and deliver engaging activities. Sessions include ‘Ready, steady…’, which sets out the aim and provides a short Bible reflection; ‘Go!’, an introduction to the theme; ‘Icebreaker’, an activity to get children talking and thinking; ‘Dramatised Bible story’, a Bible reading designed to encourage careful listening; and ‘Follow-up discussion’, suggestions to tease out the theme and teaching. Additional activities include craft suggestions, prayer ideas, and party bag activities that children can take home.
