The Amplified Bible (AMP) is an English Bible translation designed to expand the meaning of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek words by using brackets, parentheses, and synonyms directly in the text. It was published by The Lockman Foundation, the same organization behind the NASB.

Example style of the AMP:

“Peace I leave with you; My perfect peace I give to you…”

The added explanatory words aim to show shades of meaning without requiring a separate commentary.
